My dad found my parrotlet, Zephyr, dead tonight... It's really upsetting, especially because he and his mate Calypso were super, super close. They'd always cuddle and sweet talk to each other and just adored each other. I just saw them the other day, they seemed energetic as ever. We had Zephyr for around ten years, I think, which isn't very long for a parrotlet. I'm not sure why he died, though I asked dad to save the body just in case I can pinpoint something from an external examination. Probably not, and I'm not going to do a necropsy on my own bird (too upsetting), but I might as well take a look.
I can't believe he's gone so suddenly. I still remember the day we got him so clearly. I wanted a parrotlet for years before we got him. He was such a cheerful sweetheart of a bird. I just hope Calypso's going to be okay with Zeph gone...
I have a lonely, sweet male lovebird here at my other house, since Olive died of egg binding a few months ago, but I don't know if the two could live together, being different species. Mango is not aggressive, but Calypso's pretty small and I don't know if she could cope. Well, I'll think about it.
Rest in peace, Zephyr, I'll miss you. You were so special to me and my dad really, really loved you.
Crying now, but trying to convince myself to go back to drawing.
